Betty Behar de Jurin was 58, a resourceful and community-minded individual. Widowed young, she mastered various skills like plumbing and bricklaying. Always active, she initially worked as an obstetrician after graduating from Universidad de Cordoba, but later focused on her family. She played a significant role in the Women’s Argentine Zionist Organization. Living on Pasteur Street, she was near the AMIA on July 18, 1994, when a devastating car bomb exploded at 9:53 a.m.
