Silvia Ines Portnoy, at the age of 25, had traveled from Concordia to Buenos Aires in search of employment opportunities. In Concordia, she had been a cosmetologist and owned a beauty salon in her garage. She sought a change, new encounters, and different experiences. Moreover, she had initiated the process of moving to Israel, with her departure scheduled for September 8th. On the morning of Monday, July 18, 1994, she left her aunt's home early to visit the AMIA Job Placement office, aiming to secure a new job that would support her future aspirations.
